This post walks through a step-by-step workflow for importing anatomical geometry from a CT scan processed in 3D Slicer and co-registering it with an electroanatomical map in EP Workbench. This process is useful for combining anatomical and functional cardiac data for analysis or simulation.
Follow these steps:
-
Load your CT dataset into 3D Slicer
-
Use the Segment Editor to segment the chamber of interest (e.g., left ventricle) - Figure 1
-
Right-click the segment and select Export visible segments to models - Figure 2 and Figure 3
-
Save the model as a .vtk file via the Save dialog - Figure 4
-
In EP Workbench, load your electroanatomical map (EAM) - Figure 5
-
Go to File → Load → VTK and load your exported .vtk file - Figure 6 and Figure 7
-
Under Tools → Register meshes, select the EAM geometry as mesh 0 and the anatomical VTK model as mesh 1 - Figure 8 and Figure 9
-
Select three anatomical landmarks on both meshes (right-click on mesh 0 & shift + right-click on mesh 1), then press space to confirm - Figure 10
-
Click Register - Figure 11
-
Done! Your anatomical model is now aligned with your electroanatomical data - Figure 12
